Easter

Easter was really fun. We drove out to Houston to have it with my fam. Easter morning, we woke up and had to wait for everyone else to wake up too (family rule), but luckily, my little sister Tay is there to wake us all up. We went down stairs and in my family, the Easter Bunny leaves candy kind of hidden and kind of not for the kids to find and do a mini hunt. So Bent really enjoyed finding the candy and wanting to eat every piece he found right then, but soon he got the concept to put it in his basket and then get more.
We then went to our baskets. The Easter bunny brought Bent some little cars, raisins, and some plastic eggs with some candy in them. Once he discovered the candy, it was all over, he didn't care about anything else. The Easter bunny also brought some yummy treats for me and Gabriel too.
Later that day, early afternoon, we all met at my grandparents house for the Easter meal. My grandma made the best ham that I have ever had. It was so good. We had lots of other delicious food to go along with it too. We all sat around for a little to let the food settle. Then we went out and got the egg hunts ready. In the front yard, we had the egg hunt for the little kids. There was a sea of plastic eggs on the lawn. At first, Bent did fine, picking up eggs and putting them in his basket. Then he looked out on the yard and saw all the eggs, and he couldn't decide which one he wanted. He would run to one, point at it, see another, run to it, point and repeat. It was really funny to watch.
Here are all the little kids and the eggs they collected.
Then, we had the big kid (adult) egg hunt. Egg hunts are great!
My grandparent's neighbor then came over with a miniature horse for the kids to ride and two big horses for everyone else to ride. All the little kids loved the little horse. I thought Bent would be all about the horse, but he did not like riding it.
But he did like riding with me and Gabriel on the big horses.
As you can see, it was a very full, fabulous and memorable Easter, just the way I like it.

Fun times at the Hospital

About two weeks ago, Bent had his first hospital procedure. I don't like to call it surgery because they didn't really do surgery. Bent was born with the thing under his tongue (I later found out it is called a frenulum) attached all the way to the tip of his tongue. So he couldn't stick his tongue out or really lick his lips, things like that. I asked my Dr. about it at his 12 month check up and she said that the only thing he might have a problem with was his speech. So Gabriel and I decided to go ahead and have it snipped now instead of waiting to see if he has a problem. When we got there, of course there was a
ton of waiting, which is probably THE most difficult thing for an 18 month old to do. They took us back, and put the little hospital band on Bent and we waited some more. Bent hated that band. He tried with all his might to take it off. Finally, they came to get him. You think that at a pediatric hospital, they would let you stay by your child until he falls asleep, but no, I gave him to the nurse, and she took him back to the procedure room. Bent was screaming and crying for me, which made me cry. I felt terrible. So we waited and it took only about 10 minutes and the Dr. came out and said he was done and everything was great. They then brought Bentley out a few minutes later. He was crying, but he was better once I held him and he got his blanket. We were able to leave shortly after and he healed up really fast. He was just a little sore, but he is now completely back to normal, and maybe a bit better because he can move his tongue a lot more.

Egg Dying

A little over a week ago, we went to our friends house to play games, but first we dyed eggs with all the kids. Bent only helped with one or two before he felt like he needed to bang the eggs on the table and try to throw them. So then I dyed a couple of eggs myself while Gabriel kept Bent entertained. I forgot how much fun little kid activities are.
